Job Description Looking for a companion/caregiver for a 20-year-old non-speaking autistic boy in Sunnyvale. He’s very gentle-natured and needs a companion who can: - Engage with sensory activities,anxiety support - Assist with toileting activities (he is needs to be led to the toilet and verbally guided through the toileting aspects, but can do them himself) - Massage the back or legs (he has chronic pain) - Give him a very low stress environment and help him manage his anxiety with calibrated non-verbal emotional, sensory and anxiety support - Help him with his food, guide him or help him with his food intake - Engage him in fun activities when possible including walks, art, reading, music - When parents are with him, help with some of the household chores - laundry, making beds, loading the dishwasher, buying groceries, food prep (optional) The ideal candidate: - Has a genuine interest in building a relationship on trust and getting to know his interests and engaging in activities with him both indoors and outdoors - Leads with qualities of curiosity, kindness and playfulness. - Has a warm smile, engaging personality and can be attuned to listening to his non-verbal ways of communicating - Is comfortable with providing massage and assisting with toileting activities - Has a desire to support communication - Willing to travel occasionally with the family for 1 - 2 week (all travel will be taken care of by the family) - this is optional - Comfortable both with caregiving and chores Compensation & Hours - Monday - Friday 12pm - 8pm OR 10 am - 6 pm (we can be flexible on the timings) - 30 - 40 hours a week based on your availability - Pay: $35.00 per hour (can go higher for the right candidate) - Benefits: Health/Dental/Vision can be offered - Paid time off Valid work authorization required.
