We are seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver to assist a retired artist, author and psychotherapist in her 80's living with middle-stage dementia. The caregiver will provide personal care, companionship, and support with daily activities to ensure the well-being and comfort of the care recipient. Responsibilities: * Companionship & Engagement: Offer emotional support, encourage participation in activities (cooking, art, writing, video calls with family), and promote socializing, light exercise, and creative pursuits. * Personal Care & Mobility: Assist with mobility (transfers, preventing falls), personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, incontinence care), and maintaining comfort through adjustments to clothing, bedding, and positioning. * Household Support: Light housekeeping, meal preparation (love of cooking preferred), running errands (e.g., picking up prescriptions, grocery shopping), and accompanying the care recipient to appointments and outings. * Dementia Care: Provide supervision, reduce anxiety with reassuring language, engage in memory-stimulating activities (e.g., reading, storytelling), and adjust the environment (lighting, temperature) for comfort. * Health & Wellness: Respond to emergencies (e.g., falls, medical issues), ensure proper hydration, remind about medications, and assist with therapy exercises (physical and speech therapy). * Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with family and other caregivers to ensure coordinated care. Shift: * Overnight shifts: between Tuesday 9am until Friday 9am. Qualifications: * Prior caregiving experience (dementia preferred) * Patience, empathy, reliability, and strong communication skills * CPR/First Aid certification preferred * Reliable transportation required Additional Notes: * Training provided on care recipient’s preferences and routines. * Gentle approach essential for personal care tasks.
