About Linda

I was an RN for 14 years predominately in oncology, 3 years in Hospice home health. I am the mother and caregiver of a 43 year old son with quadriplegic cerebral palsy so I am very experienced with disabilities and needed equipment. I cared for my mother, who had alzheimer's disease. I have been a church secretary for the last two years. Collect information about any members that are ill. Keep current information about our many shut-ins. Comfort those who have lost loved ones and are planning a funeral at our church. Receive calls about weddings in our church and work with the families as plans progress. Administrative assistant to Rev. Alex Oberneder, pastor. Manage his phone calls and appointments and help him with his schedule. Proof his written sermons. Coordinate the many activities of the church including Bible study, council meetings, art classes for adults and children, prayer meeting, lunches and dinners. Coordinate use of our facilities for community gatherings and meetings.

Bone Marrow Transplant: Provided intensive care for children and adult patients on UAB’s bone marrow transplant unit. Maintained the strictest antibacterial environment due to patient’s compromised immune system. Administered high dose chemotherapy and closely monitored patients for severe side effects that were life threatening. Some patients were cured of their cancer, but many died. Provided care, spiritual and emotional support for family during patient’s long hospital stay. Labor and Delivery: Provided care for mothers and fathers during labor and delivery and infant during birth process and after.

Provided follow up after patient’s death for period of grief.
