Without sounding too vain, I'd have to say that what makes me a great caregiver, and sets me apart from some within his field, is my unyielding and unbiased compassion, and genuine heartfelt care I have had for all of my patients and residents. Although some may view this as a bad habit, or just "extra work", I tend to rarely ever tell a patient, "no" , I genuinely take time to figure out what it is he or she may need, and ways to obtain it while sticking to their goals for health, recovery, and prosperity. I fully understand that they are people too, they have needs, likes, dislikes, even though some of them may not be entirely alert, they are still people who have lived much longer and experienced much more than I, and they deserve a little extra time to ensure comfort, and peace of mind. I have always found ways to ensure resident / patient comfort while sticking within time restraints, and health plans / objectives. "Making the impossible, possible" A number of patients have said. This is being based on my clinical practice and full-time position at a rehabilitation sub acute hospital / long term care center. I also tend to get into somewhat lengthy conversations with patients and residents, however I understand that often times what will do much more good for a person than a few pills, is maybe someone to talk to; A conversation, an ear for even a moment, to voice their concerns, to tell you about their day, to build trust and reassure them that they are safe, a
