Hi there! My name is Avery, I am currently 22 years old and currently live in California. I am moving to beautiful San Antonio in a few short months. I have been involved in the medical field long before I started my schooling. I have received certifications for CNA, HHA, and CMA care. Although I cannot transfer my CNA and HHA credentials when I move I still have the necessary training and experience most others do not. I advocate for others as I do for myself because the medical field can be exhaustingly confusing. I'm currently in school just a a few months away from finishing my associates of arts degree in the goal of becoming a social worker. My main focus of medical interest/concern is mental health/illness, disabilities, autoimmune disorders, and neurological disorders. I have an autistic sister whom I cared for growing up, I have volunteered in a "special games" at my high school, and I have treated patients with dementia and someone recovering from a stroke. I can cook multiple dishes and I'm always willing to learn more, I know a little bit about gardening even. I would love to share my skills and help those who need it!

Fountains At The Carlotta

Fountains at the Carlotta has multiple sections of care, my section was skilled nursing where we would care for patients after they've had a surgery or are healing from broken limbs. As a nurses assistant I did a lot of acute care. I would assist in many ambulatory services such as getting in and out of bed, getting onto and off of the toilet, dressing, brushing teeth, and showering. I also took care to keep their rooms tidy and comfortable and would assist in patients who had trouble eating alone. I answered phone lines, updated information in charts, took inventory, and took vitals multiple times throughout the day. I have also assisted in dressing a wound and caring for bed sores.

Our elders and people of special needs need interaction, compassion, human contact, music, stimulation, conversation not just handing them medication and a plate of food.
