I became a caregiver when my mother needed hospice care. Subsequently, my stepfather needed a companion, which has now turned to 24-hour-a-day care. I am not proud that I gave up the life I knew but instead grateful to be able to fulfill this role for the man that made my mother happy for the 47 years they were together before she passed.
