- Demonstrate the following skills, aware of indications, contraindications, and possible complications for: range of motion exercises, proper body mechanics, splint application, ambulation techniques, use of gait belt, walkers, canes, crutches, slide board, hip precautions techniques, adaptive equipment used feeding and performing ADLs, techniques used hemiplegic and total hip replacement residents to dress self, transfer methods for THR, hemiplegic, and partial weight-bearing residents. - Identifies diagnoses associated with dysphagia, common swallowing problems; explains aspiration precautions and demonstrates: safe swallowing interventions, adaptive equipment used for self-feeding, and prepares and explains the use of thickened liquids - Demonstrates strategies to communicate with dementia, Alzheimer's CVA, cognitively and hearing impaired residents - Verbalize the purpose, OBRA regulations, and scope of services in a Restorative Nurse Program and the role of the Restorative Nurse Assistant - Communicates resident progress and difficulties, actively advocates in role play scenarios, and uses medical terminology common to restorative nurse programs - Documents using the Minimum Data Sets (MDS) scoring.
