I consider myself a great caregiver because I care for the clients. I have a great experience as a care provider at Green Oak Developmental Center where we have more than 50 clients. Aside from feeding and changing we also teach them to sing and dance, count, write and do the coloring and also teach them to do different arts and crafts. We also take them to the park or just stroll outside the facility to let them feel the sunlight and fresh air. There is also a regular outing e.g. to Wall mart, Dollar Store, Basking Robin, Starbucks just to name a few to let them experience also what a normal individual usually do. These individuals or clients needs love or care too so as a care provider we are expected to do that and that is what we are giving to them. Also at Green Oak Development Center we are required to attend the monthly one hour in-service training and I have attended the following training: 1) Stress Management, 2) Adult First Aid/CPR; 3)Vital Sign Training; 3) Emergency Care Procedures; 4) Team Building; 5) Safe Feeding Practice Guidelines for Swallowing and Choking Prevention; 6) Infection Control Procedures; 7) Transfer/Ambulation Techniques and Prevention of Falls; 8) Caring for Allergic Reactions; 9) Caring for Self Injurious Behaviors.
