About Abigail

Hi there, my name is Abby and I have been working in caregiving/healthcare for about 8 years. My mother worked as a CNA her whole life. I would often volunteer in the facilities she worked at, and I started as a CNA myself when I was 16. I have experience in a variety of healthcare settings, from home care to facilities to pharmacies to disability care. I have completed extensive training in Alzheimer's and dementia care, intellectual and developmental disabilities and basic life support and first aid. I have always been passionate about helping people and I love being able to help seniors stay in their homes and maintain their independence. Being able to form connections with clients, getting to know what they enjoy, and supporting them in continuing to the things they love is very important to me. I look forward to helping you or your loved one enjoy their best life!

Experience & Education

Job Coach, Direct Support Professional, House Manager

Oct 2020 - Present
Nick's Hope LLC
I work one on one with an individual in his home to assist with any activities of daily living and provide him with supported community connections as well as help him run his nonprofit, Awesome in Action. Awesome in Action is a disability awareness nonprofit and I accompany him to events and presentations, assist with writing and putting together presentations, brainstorm new projects, and help collect money from fundraisers. I also provide behavioral and emotional support in line with his behavior and medical plans. In the House Manager position I delegate cleaning and maintenance tasks to other DSPs. I do the monthly supply order and ensure that we are using PAR and insurance funds appropriately and that we have enough supplies for the month. Another one of my duties is to ensure PRN medication and prescription medications are filled in a timely manner, and to coordinate between the pharmacy and his doctors to put in refill requests. I am also responsible for ensuring all medical supplies and tubing are changed out in accordance with his protocols, and that all DSPs follow all protocols set forth by Nick's Hope. I also assist with the training of new DSPs.
