I have experience in several realms: assisting in care for my grandma for several years before she passed, working with high school special needs students, as well as being previously certified as a CNA, and later on EMT. I made a career change to IT, so I didn't maintain my certs, but I still have a deep passion and yearning to help and serve others. I appreciate being able to make a difference in someone's life by giving care and companionship. Whether it be simply with my presence for conversation, or for assistance with daily tasks in the home, to assistance with self care. I am interested in caregiving on some of my days off as I used to take care of a sweet older couple who lived down the road from me. They have recently passed on but it brought out my passion for caregiving and helping people when I can! I am also a CNA but I did a lot of that in my 20's and am now interested in the lighter side of those duties, light lifting, daily living activities, helping around the house, and offering company!! I am a care giver at heart! I have always been the nurturer of the family. I have 17+ yrs experience with caring for the elderly. 13 of those years specializing in Alzheimer's and dementia care. I learned from my previous residents' that it's important to have a sense of humor in this field of work, which I can think I'm a comedian some days! I never knew this work was meant for me until it just fell into my lap one day and was told by many I was a natural. I find it very rewarding seeing my patient's happy, see someone relieved of their pain, or just making that special bond or friendship after earning their trust. Whether it be just for a moment in each day, to see that I made my patient's life a little bit easier for them-makes caregiving so worthwhile. Something I have achieved would be staying in this field of work for so many years. There are people that simply aren't capable of doing the "dirty work" that comes with the job title. I can admit sometimes there will be "bad days,"but will always realize that at the end of the day- the good outweighs the bad....

I have always enjoyed helping others and being there for someone when no one else can. I have worked as a registered behavior technician for children with neurodiversities and worked as a caregiver for all aged individuals. What made me want to be a caregiver was the ability not only help others, but to be a companion as well. I also enjoy being able to have a flexible schedule for school and my family. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is hearing the stories my clients have to tell, building a relationship and putting a smile on their face.
