I became a caregiver while taking care of a parapalegic friend who was totally bedridden. He was 6'4 and didn't fit in his bed in his trailer. I got him an electric hospital bed and proceeded to find agencies who would care for him. Every agency we tried ended up not having a home caregiver, or they would send them, but they wouldn't show up. So I became his caregiver 24/7. I cared for him for 5 years, and he had several other health issues that caused him to go to a nursing home, where he passed. I continued to be a caregiver, and I worked as an Administrator for a Private Home Healthcare Agency. I communicated with the clients, the nurses, and the agencies... and my love of caregiving came out. I enjoy the personal care and companionship that I can offer to my clients. I listen to them, and get to know them so I can give them the best personal care that they deserve.
