I love to listen & learn from elderly people. They have so much wisdom & have lived interesting lives. I love to listen to their experiences. Once I had my back injury ( as an x-ray tech in 2010) I could no longer work 10-12 hr. shifts so I looked for a second career. A friend was doing Home Health Care for a Ms. Helen over the Christmas season & needed time off to be with her family. I was to fill in for 10 days but ended up staying for 4 years until I moved to Florida. I love working 1 on 1 with a person & their family. It is a joy to see them make little improvements along the way or just a big smile or thank you for making their favorite food or meal. My personal achievement is knowing I give 100% to my client & treat them like a family member. My clients have been both females & males. I treat them the same as I would treat my Mom or Dad. I have taken additional classes & have experience with Dementia, Alzheimer & Parkinson clients. Each person is unique in their own way, a real person with feelings & emotions. I always care about their dignity & appearance. I believe in having my clients clean & ready every day to accept a friend stopping in for tea, coffee or a chat. My cell is: 810-689-3221.

Assist client with showers, sponge baths, daily bathroom chores ( brushing teeth, grooming, toilet assists, dressing, etc.). Prepare meals, assist with PT or breathing machines or other nursing skills. Spend time playing checkers, Rummy Qube, cards, puzzles, etc. or listen to music, watch a TV show, movie or read from their favorite book.

I work part time with Pat's husband, Mr. Bill, who is demonstrating early signs of Alzheimer's. We play games, watch movies, go to watch friends play Pickleball ( sort of like short tennis), out to lunch or just be in the house for companionship. I am currently living with them at their northern home in Wisconsin but will be returning to The Villages Sept. 30th. 2021.

Care for Deanna's father from 10am to 4 pm. 4 days a week. Lots of riding in car & taking him to tennis, visit friends, & having lunch out. Sometimes we would watch sports on TV or going for a golf cart ride to get ice cream or do errands. Companionship only- no shopping, cleaning, bathing, etc. Unfortunately I resigned when Mr. Bob started grabbing the steering wheel, etc. that made me feel unsafe to be in a vechile with him.

We did shopping, cooking, baking, meal prep, cleaning, laundry, showers, assist with dressing & undressing, drives to the beauty salon or to the river to watch freighters go by. Assist with meds & breathing treatments. Helen was hearing impaired & we assisted with hearing aid batteries or taking the hearing aides to the provider. Also transportation to doctors appointments.

I understand completely as I cared exclusively for my father for 5 years with congestive heart failure, diabetes, and strokes. I don't just do care giving I am a born Caregiver. Everybody deserves respect and compassion when facing life's challenging obstacles.
