I became a caregiver for the simplicity - I don't say that meaning that care-giving is a simple job, yet I feel that caring for others is what my calling is. I am a woman and I have the built in instincts for care-giving. For instance, older people with Alzheimers and dementia need a different kind of care than someone that is recovering from a heart attack or stroke. I am not saying the latter are lesser medical issues, but someone who isn't "in their right mind" may need me to be their version of a wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, etc. If I can make their day by portraying to them things that make their days pass a little easier, then that's what I will do. I also feel that it takes a special person to take care of anyone in need and I know I am that person.
