Actually I started assisting the elderly in my teens where I assisted my God-Mother in caring for her sick husband. After he passed I cared for her and another elderly woman until I graduated and moved to Virginia in 1981.I lived in Virginia for 31 years and have consistently cared for someone over that time period. I ran test on all machines, pulled all late cases for the following day and assured all case carts were complete and at the proper places in the operating room. I updated their crash cart and made up and sealed the second and third draw two per cart for a quicker turn over. I also created a wall system from A to Z for every Instrument in the house by category like Ortho, General Etc. Because the Traction team did not work at night I managed the traction department by supplying the emergency room and nursing units with traction items. I also assist with training new staff.
