Caregiving became my passion when I was asked to help a family member whose health was deteriorating and would not allow an unknown caregiver to help. I am very warm and compassionate by nature, with empathy and understanding of what someone must feel knowing they have lost their independence...of sorts, so I make it a point to make them feel that they are strong and independent I am there to just assist them in what they want to do. I have been fortunate to have a way of helping a person who doesn't want help to welcome it with encouragement and praise. My proudest achievement to date was to get a man the has severe Parkinson's, who could walk but just had no desire too try, as it was just to much effort, too walk daily and now rarely uses a wheelchair.. just his walker. The joy on the face of someone who looks forward to the time they have with you I priceless.
