Aloha my name is Jacquelyn I've been caregiving most all my life. I became a caregiver because I have a passion to help those who need help. I grew up with a disabled mother most my life, she was such a beautiful person and always wasn't treated so by a judgemental uncaring world at times. I seen the struggles she had to endure life can be fast paced and unjust, Seeing that I started to do my part at a early age. Helping my mother feel loved and cared for you see it starts with the feeling first then action, i showered her cleaned for my mother I helped her eat healthier since she was a diabetic, I helped her in and out of bed as she became immobile. I showered her with love I understand there is a overwhelming need for compassionate caregiving. At that realization I made my mind up I'd help as many as I could in my lifetime by being a caregiver id treat people/clients with dignity and respect no matter what their circumstances were and that was going to be through what I could give caregiving for others. They deserve to have great safe care at the least, I try to bring happy to the sad, comfort to the pain, and a friend to the person. I have a passion way beyond just falling into this work, I live and breathe it. I understand we need more caregivers with that passion! well I can't give you the world but I can give you 1 true hearted caregiver that hopes to make a impact on the world through my caregiving and maybe impact yours as well thank you for your time and consideration. My job duties over the 4+ years of care giving consisted of working partly in a facility and inhome care. I assisted with hygiene, medication, feeding, ambulation, helping in and out of bed on and off a commode, in and out of shower to and from car. As a caregiver I assisted getting clients up in the morning taking care of their hygiene needs, showering,dressing as well as help with ambulation in and out of bed to and from dining room. I helped the kitchen staff know what particular clients were allergic to as well as help make the dinning room experience run smoothly. I helped assist clients with medication as well as medicated creams I prepared them for bed i did laundry I helped with all daily tasks whether that be look for a lost pair of pants or take a client to the beauty shop. I understood the need to calm a client with Alzheimer's or dementia as the client's would Zone in and out of the here and now, that could be a very confusing and scary to the clients. They may have been thinking they were in a time 40 years ago when they were a child or or had young children worried about where their kids were I would definitely hear them out and developed an ability with certain clients to know how to calm them in those cases whether that be tell them that the kids were with the babysitter or try to put their mind on something else it was my goal and purpose to make the feel safe. I also reported emergencies to my superiors as well as call 911 in severe cases my job was to provide a safe welcoming environment to the clients and staff these were my overall duties working as a personal car assistant in facility.
