About Kathryn

I am an outgoing individual who likes to talk and share interests with my clients. I am currently enrolled in a speech and language graduate program through St. Ambrose university. This has given me knowledge on swallowing disorders, dementia, language disabilities, working with verbal and nonverbal clients and families, as well as person centered care. I am willing to learn and adjust my points of view to always accommodate client. I want to make sure I am bringing my best self into a clients home where they can feel comfortable and well taken care of. I have worked in a group home where I have taken care of those with nonverbal needs, mobility issues, and swallowing disorders. While there I provided the basic needs such as toiling, bathing, cleaning and cooking. I have first hand experience taking care of others and making sure to respect their boundaries and needs. I have many interests and am willing to learn what my client likes and doesn't like so they can enjoy their time with me. I love being active and staying engaged with my clients and families. I want to provide the best care possible for each individual all the while making sure they feel independent, and useful.

I am a very loving caring and genuine with what I love to do. What attracted me to be a caregiver was my awesome mother. When I was younger she use to do in home care giving as well and had to bring me with her a few times to work and as I watched her work I kind of just fell in love with the role of being a caregiver. Taking time out of our days to help fulfill the needs or an elderly or disabled person really takes a lot and you have to have certain characteristics to fulfill those needs. Hello, My name is Christina. I've been a caregiver for just over 10 years now. I love my job. I love getting to know someone on a very personal level and trying to make life alittle easier, if only for a little while. I've always wanted to work in the medical field. After getting some wisdom from some family that had been in it for many years, I decided to start with my Certification for nursing assistance first. I've done facility and private care for many years each and love the impact that I have had and equally received from my patients. I've done almost every skill that you can think of, from driving to doctors apt. to staying over night for end of care, and everything in between. One of the things Im most proud of, in regards to caregiving is becoming 'part of the family'. I love that I can give the family members a sense of security knowing that I am there for thier loved ones.
