Hello, my name is Melba! My experience with caregiving started the year of 2010. I started caring seniors to make a difference in their lives. For people with high levels of care needed, my support in invaluable. Treating them with attentive, proper, and respectful care is a significant role to ensure they retain their dignity and independence during the latter stages of life. For me, helping seniors and others is a great accomplishment and feels highly rewarding, knowing that I could turn a unbearable day into a great one. Caregiving taught me knowledge from listening to experiences and stories one might gladly share. Memories are priceless and can give a wonderful insight and transport you to a time from a person's different perspective. To me, having that kind of opportunity gives life more meaning. I became interested in care giving because my Mom was in an automobile accident which left her paralyzed & my sister-in-law was in an automobile accident which left her with a brain injury. I was my mom's caregiver from age 17 until I was married at age 22. While living in Greenwood, IN, I worked for Companion Care as a cargiver. My Mom moved in with us in 2010, I took care of her until she passed in 2016. I enjoy helping people to be able to live at home without having to live in a nursing home. I prefer not to bath & dress, I helped my mom with bathing & dressing, however it was something I did because it needed to be done, I was never comfortable with this part of her care. If I get to know the person and they need help every once in awhile, I will do anything to help them. I was with 2 of my clients in Greenwood, IN until they passed away, I prefer the one on one attention I can give when working with an individual in their home.

I enjoy assisting and caring for others that rely on me to recover and encourage a better day. Some of my clients had no family support, I became the person that provided daily functions that they could not perform on their own. A smile , patience and companionship allows us to bond and enjoy each others company. I have worked with a clint that came home from the hospital from having a stroke, he is now being cared for by family and has tge ability to do task after being bed bound. I enjoy engaging with people that can not or can do everyday activity, being able to provide stability is rewarding that's my goal.
