I became a Caregiver because I want to give back to our aging populations and assist with their declining year with grace and respect. What I like about being a care giver is, not only am I a help to someone but I learn from them as well. Example, I've learned to treat everyone the way I would like to be treated if I were in their place. I also learned to take the time to talk and acknowledge the client. One of my most proudest client achievements, was when I was hired to assist a stroke patient with his daily schedule. This included getting him out of bed, grooming, get dress, prepare meals, and daily exercises. I was told his wife lived with him but she was still very independent and wanted to be left alone she wouldn't speak to anyone. On my first day I spoke to her, by the second day we were having coffee and a very nice conversation. You see, I acknowledge her and that it was her home as well as her husband's. Who am I? Someone who loves what I do, it matters not if I'm working as a Certified Medical assistant, Certified Nursing assistant or Caregiver. My goal is to make a different by letting my clients or patients know someone does care and I am there for them.
