I was born with the passion to serve those in my care, providing excellent customer service. I define myself by my ability to make a positive impact on the lives of others, and found serving older adults and families to be the most rewarding job I have ever had the privileges to take on. I specialize in working with older adults with dementia such as but not limited to Alzheimer's Disease, using scientifically proven methods of care and redirection called the Positive Physical Approach. Part of caring for the person with dementia is the acknowledgment that the disease does not define the person, but he person has the disease, and it is up to me to do my part in working with the individual in order to impower him or her to be their best person and maintain as much independence as possible. This is essential to maintaining the individual's dignity. Previously, I was the Life Enrichment Director of Morning Pointe of Lexington Personal Care, where I partnered with the community and volunteers to provide recreational programs that met our residents' physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. I have experience working in a clinical setting as a CNA where I learned to be versatile, accepting different assignments each time I worked a shift. This taught me to be adaptable as I valued residents and their varied physical and mental abilities. With Goodman Care Inc, I traveled to different clients' homes that were miles apart, providing personal care. It taught me to have a strong clinical eye and communication being key when reporting change in clients' mental or physical status, to my nurse supervisor.
