* Provide patients' personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths * Maintain patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; recording intake and output information * Provide for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary, ambulating, turning and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals * Provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and request; reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor; experience with Hoyer and SARA lifts * Demonstrates an awareness of safety needs and a basic knowledge of interactions with medical terminology, infection control, risk management and environment of care policies in all interactions with patients/families * Responds with tact and discretion to the needs of patients and families, and reports needs beyond the PCA skill level to the RN * Serve and protect the hospital community by adhering to professional standard, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. * Maintain charts and provide reports to the incoming shift
