I became a caregiver because I did not want to work in main stream Healthcare anymore. My passion is helping seniors the way they and their family's want to be cared for without Healthcare systems making the choices for their care. I worked as a physical therapy assistant for 27 years. The last 8 were in a rehabilitation department at a skilled nursing facility. I have enjoyed the last 9 years doing private home care as a caregiver. Helping individuals live their lives with dignity, safety and loving care.

I was working in a factory setting in my youth and really was not happy. I saw an ad for a CNA class at the Rochester Manor, so by keeping my job and taking the class at night, I was able to learn a whole new career, which has been so gratifying. The people that I have been able to meet over the years are truly inspiring, and they all have a story to tell, and I enjoy lending an ear.

The expectations and standards I set for myself are: 1) Dignity and respect 2) When I walk into someone's home, I'm walking into their world. I dont expect them to walk into mine. Its about them and their needs. 3) Everyone is an individual. Same diagnosis does not mean the same kind of care. My care is based on the individual and their wants and needs. 4) Patience and being a great listener. How else will I know what is needed and wanted. I have provided care for many people. Hi! I'm gia, i am a CNA and currently enrolled as a senior in highschool at Lake Region High School. I completed the CNA program at my Vocational school my junior year and have been working in health care ever since. I'm a very easy going type of person. I've wanted to be a caregiver since i was little and jumped right at the opportunity. I love being a CNA, i love helping my clients with anything they could possibly need help with. I love the bond that comes from being in this field. My main goal is to put a smile on anyones face. I am a student in highschool, I'm only available certain days of the week and i have a Cafe job on the weekends as i am saving up to go to college to get my RN associates degree. Becoming a CNA so young was one of the best personal achievements i have and i couldn't be happier to be apart of the experiences it offers!

I have always enjoyed working with people and have missed that since retiring from nursing a few years ago. I love getting to know people, finding out their interests and hearing their life stories. I grew up in a big family and value those special relationships. I realize a lot of people don't have a big family to rely on and I'm here to help fill that need.
