I have been in the care field for the past ten years. I have worked with many populations including folks with developmental disabilities, dementia, brain trauma, mood disorders and schizophrenia. I have worked with all ages except for children (professionally). Art is my main passion and I have made art since my childhood, but as far as job positions, I have always found care jobs. Care is natural for me, I strive to honor the people I care for and am able to build a rapport quite quickly. My biggest joy about caring for others is that I learn an immense amount about different perspectives, experiences in life and get to connect with people that are often cast aside in our youth and perfection obsessed culture. An achievement; when I can truly apply the depth of care and respect that I give to people I help, to myself, that feels like an achievement for where I am right now in life. Helping people become or remain as independent as possible no matter how small a task, is also quite a good feeling.

I work in a small team to support adult artists with varying developmental disabilities through community inclusion, activities of daily living, social/interpersonal interaction, conflict resolution and peer to peer mediation. Art is the primary focus of the space which provides ample opportunity for me to teach workshops, assist in development and implementation of programming and to bridge communication barriers within the community and the studio. I interface with artists, staff, guardians/parents, community members and customers. I work to maintain the dignity and respect of the artists and ensure the best care particularly in regards to personal hygiene and self care skills.

My biggest personal achievement was to be selected "VNA's caregiver of the Year 2016". Ive becobecextended famiky to my elderly clients and hospice patients, as they have become to me. I'm honored & feel priviledged to serve my clients/patients at end of life as well as providing respite for family members and guiding them throughout the weeks/days before & after losing a loved one. My life's journey has taken me all over the world. I speak numerous languages, have lived on several continents, learned skiing at 47, ballroom dance competitor at 49, certified diver at 52., and now plan to get my private pilot's license by my 70th Birthday. Having supported my husband and only son during their cancer journeys, I learned that we cannot take anything for granted in life. We must find our own way of living life to the fullest each and every moment. I'm grateful for all the people who have touched my life. Each and every one has been a gift to me as I have been a gift to them. I hope to touch many more lives.
