What makes me a great caregiver is ,I actually care! Honestly I became a caregiver because I needed a job. But it very quickly became so much more than that, I saw how important the work that I do is. You have the privilege of making all the difference in the world to someone who is experiencing perhaps the most difficult and scariest time in they're life. Being that comfort, support (physically& emotionally). Then my mother became ill. With the experience I gained thru my work, it allowed me to understand her process and how to help her, myself and my family at such a difficult time. I have the experience of being care provider and family member. Something about me? I absolutely love what I do! I'm an avid reader, great sense of humor and if you ask me, a great personality :) An achievement that I'm proud of was being able to look beyond myself and help those who are less fortunate. I also do work with a non-profit organization that a friend of mine started(Sisters United, Detroit). We're active in the fight against breast cancer with walks and fund raising. The organization provides meals and clothing for the disenfranchised. We also go into the community and schools to express how important self respect, getting involved in something positive, making a difference thru action and education is.
