I became a caregiver when my great grandmother got sick an the family couldn't take proper care of her.The best thing about being a caregiver is help people an letting them that there are people out there to help them an to see the smiles on there face amazes me.So far my best achievement was helping my grandmother out seeing her smile again made my life complete. Her family felt like they didn't have a choice and had to put her in hospice. me knowing how family orientated she was I knew she wouldn't have survived as long as she did. I did everything from prepare her meals to bathing her when she no longer could. I did all the house work and drove her to all her dr appts. I've always had a passion for helping people, since as far back as I can remember. When my parents divorced my mother had to go back to school so she could raise us four children. She went back and studied nursing. One day she had taken me to her work to show me around, as soon as I walked in and saw all the great things my mother did for her patients, I knew that was what I was meant to do...to care for people. I knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so I went to school and recieved my CNA/GNA and CMT license. I have been working in the healthcare field for 16 years. I started at Calvert Manor Nursing Home in 1998 when I was 16 years old. Thats is where I recieved my CNA/GNA license. They had a class there for the CNA and after completing that course you had to give back 2 years of service and they would pay for your CNA exam at Essex Community College. I have a huge heart. I really enjoy helping people in need and I teach my children to do the same. I teach them to treat others as you would like to be treated, give others respect and kindness.
