I became a senior caregiver almost two years ago, prior to that I worked in disability for five years. Many of my friends say that I have a lot of compassion and would have made a great mother. My strengths are the ability to listen, be quiet, enter the persons world I am responsible for. I feel strong about acknowledging people's dignity especially as we age and become dependent. Over the past two years I have worked with approximately two dozen different seniors, all with different needs,and circumstances. What do I like about being a caregiver? Knowing that I am truly adding value to someone's life is one of the most rewarding experiences I can have and I feel very blessed and grateful for each of them. A personal achievement that I am very proud of is that I founded and community magazine while living in Australia that gives a good wholesome reflection of the lives and communities in a rural area. I sold the magazine to an Australian before I returned to the states and the magazine is still going strong! I am a Christian but acknowledge all religions. I am a very open hearted person, and would love to meet with any family who thinks I might be the right person to assist their loved one.

In high school, I knew that I wanted to enter the healthcare field, therefore, I decided to pursue a certification as a nursing assistant. The best thing about being a caregiver is being able to make a difference, whether it is small or large, in someone's life. Just attending college is one of the greatest personal achievement that I am very proud of and grateful for. I have worked in in-home care for over 3 years. Within those years, I was trained to work with Dementia/Alzheimer's clients. I am physically fit to lift or transfer using proper and safe techniques. My main duties are to assist with Activities of Daily Living, provide transportation to appointments/errands, provide light housekeeping, assist with household paperwork as needed, meal preparation, monitor medications, and light housekeeping. I am also pet-friendly!
