I have been taking care of others for over 20 years. From infants to teens to the elderly. I have always been a "mother" figure, even as a child. Taking care of others just came so naturally to me. They have each given me the knowledge and opportunity in their own way to learn that it takes love, patience, discipline, empathy but most of all consistency to be a Caregiver. To raise a child or guide and show a teen that you're not giving up on them. Or to prove to a golden years patient that they can trust you with their care. I guess what attracted me to this line of work was simple. I am a very warm, empathetic person so again it just seems natural to take care of others. I am not the type to step over a person in need, I am the type to lift them up. A personal achievement that I am extremely proud of is my son. My 3 year old baby boy Jaxson. He is quite literally the best thing I have ever done in my entire life and I am in awe of him & so very grateful to be his Mother. He, is what this is all for. Thank you.

While I was only there a few short months due to a family emergency, I have to say it was very nice to be able to put a smile on the patients faces when I could. In a place like that, especially, there were extremely hard days. All the patients came to me even though I was not a medical professional. They came to me because I didn't treat them differently or badly due to their illness. I showed compassion and understanding and really just gave them ear, which I believe they desperately wanted. I was a secretary on weekends, but none of the upper staff management worked weekends, so I was perceived as someone who could help these poor people get whatever it was at the time that they needed. Working there was definitely very strange but I was able to meet amazing people and I will always be grateful for that.

I was a part time Caregiver to a 88 year young patient who needed mostly companionship. She was often left alone for hours throughout the day due to her daughter working long hours far away. I came in in the morning and made her breakfast, played cards, talked, made her lunch and was basically her companion throughout the week. I also helped her with bathing and dressing. I only worked a short time for her due to the fact that her daughter thought it would be best to place her in a care facility.
