About Sara

I'm a caregiver and healer by nature! I love to bake, read, take walks/hike, and play games. I'm a habitual student--I love to learn! My medical background gives me an excellent knowledge base (medical assistant & occupational therapy assistant), but my experience and genuine compassion are my biggest assets. I have worked with a wide variety of ages with an equally wide variety of physical/social/mental health needs, including special needs children as a school health aid, OTA at a skilled nursing/long term acute care hospital, medical assistant, co-led a divorce care group at my church, internship at Arapaho Co. Mental Health, and provided my grandmother (advanced Alzheimer's Disease & stroke) with a loving and caring home for 5 years. I have also been by my mom's side during her breast cancer treatment (never missed a chemo!). Please note that my services do not include occupational therapy treatment/services, but having this education and experience is immensely helpful in helping your loved one stay safe while in my care. I understand how difficult finding a reliable, competent, and compassionate caregiver can be, and I know the struggles and stresses of caring for a family member! But the reward of knowing that I made an impact in someone's life is my greatest reward. I look forward to meeting your family and providing your loved one with compassionate and quality care as well!

I am hard working, patient and compassionate. I am able to handle any situation that comes my way, while keeping my composure. I was attracted to this field of work because I believe in making the best possible use of what you have. Being patient and "passive" is not always viewed as a positive thing, but if I can leverage my personality traits to build professional relationships that are mutually beneficial, I believe that is a truly rewarding experience. I am a natural problem solver and that's what makes this job enjoyable for me. I like the fact that every day is different and brings new challenges that translate into learning experiences. I aim to learn as much as possible, at all times, regardless of circumstance. I am proud of the fact that I am able to remain positive and take something away from each experience I have in life.

I have been a caregiver for over 30 years and enjoy working with people and being part of their lives. I ran a retirement home as an assisted-living director and ran the dining room and started the Alzheimer's unit. I have been working with home health agencies and also at facilities and enjoy doing activities with the residence and seeing people smiling and laughing because most of them do not have families that come and visit them so basically we are their family. I enjoy being a caregiver and being in their homes because then you get to be one on one with them which makes caregiving more personable and it's a blessing that most of them can stay in their homes. Being a caregiver is not a talent or something that you can be trained on it's mostly what's in your heart and knowing that the elderly need good people to take care of them and One day we are going to be in the position where we will need someone to take care of us so knowing that there are good caregivers out there it just makes it easier on the family to take care of their loved one.
