I became a caregiver in 2004. My father had a aneurysm in 2003 and after he was hospitalized I brought he home instead of putting him in a nursing home. I was trained by RN nurses how to care for him. I had to learn how to wash him up in bed and dress him, transfer him from the bed to the wheelchair , I had to blend all of his food before given it to him(breakfast,lunch,dinner). I had to learn how to transfer him from wheelchair toilet, arms and legs exercise daily. So I went to school to get my CNA/GNA in 2004. Since then I have been providing care for dementia and cancer clients in there private home or nursing home. I do morning and evening care, preparing food, dressing, mouth care, change depend if needed, exercise and talk to them. From my experience I have learn that the love, caring, having patience and talks puts smiles on there faces. I love what I do and my good at it. When they said to me when are you coming back, to me thats a job well done its letting they are very pleased with my care.
