I have been a caregiver for 10 years. I use caregiving as a part of my Ministry by helping the elderly. Being a caregiver you have to be loving , compassionate and patient. With my long tenure as a caregiver I have acquired those attributes throughout the years . Long before I decided to become a caregiver I cared for my grandmother who passed away from bone cancer. After she passed away I knew I had a calling on my life too help other elderly people who were not able to care for themselves. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is providing companionship .I believe when you show someone love and respect they give it back with much appreciation. I enjoy putting a smile on my clients faces everyday and helping them navigate through their day. Two of my achievements that I am most proud of is helping my two children reach honors in school. I'm a proud mother and I take motherhood seriously. I am also proud of my Ministry in which my husband and I have grown through the years. I take great pride in helping people obtain a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. I do not push my beliefs on anyone but if the subject presents itself it is definitely a topic I am most comfortable speaking about. I am certified as a CNA I have a CPR certification and I am also DODD certified as well. I've worked in nursing homes taking care of a wide range of residence with a wide range of health issues, the majority of my work has been working closely with clients in their homes. I started giving care at a younger age, taking care of my auntie with a left-sided weakness due to stroke. It was within the family and a non-profit payment job but a rewarding one. I believe giving care is a calling not just a job. I felt a very great joy to be part of her life and assisting her with the rest of my family before her passing. It became part of me and decided to continue to give a helping hands to those who needed it, within my capabilities. You do unto others, as you wish to be done to you.
