My first attempt at being a caregiver was on the job training. My deceased wife had a lot of health problems. Diabetic, COPD, renal failure leading to dialysis. We ended up getting Anita a self-powered wheelchair which gave her a since of independence. I adjusted pretty good in being able to help her. She was a very loving person and it was easy to give her the love back in caring for her. I took an evening job so I could be available to take her to dialysis 3 times a week. While she was receiving her treatments, I would doing grocery shopping, laundry, and run around errands. She had a great attitude towards her health problems so I adjusted well in helping her however I could. I was truly an act of love. So I became a caregiver out of necessity but never resented it. It was like a partnership. I could do all the things that she was not able to do. It worded out pretty well. I have no regrets. I enjoyed the chance to help someone and see on her face her appreciation for what I could do. I have always liked help people and when I was a teacher did this in my classrooms. With Anita this was a chance to help her exclusively. My person achievement in being a caregiver was making her life complete and she was very happy until the day she passed on to the lord.
