What makes me a great caregiver, would be my work ethic. I'm professional, caring, tender, and I love being that void in my residents life putting them first and taking excellent care of them. I became a caregiver because of my dad. As a child, growing up I watched my dad constantly help others and I never understood his satisfaction, until one day he told me to understand the satisfying fact of helping others you have to one day experience it yourself, which made me lean towards nursing. ever since I've been in this field I've not only grown to understand the satisfaction of helping others but I have also touched residents heart in helping feel that void, rather its just being an ear, or taking care of them as if they were my own family member. What I like most about being a STNA/PCA, I would have to say are helping the elderly, as well as my patients themselves. Although I can't put myself in their shoes and give false hope, nursing is my compassion it's not necessarily all about the pay but being able to touch someone else's heart means the most to me. I use to sit and watch the residents who family threw them in the nursing home, watch other residents interact with their families and it bottled me because its like negligence to me, I can understand that some situations whether it's dementia, or Alzheimer's can become hard to deal with , but I like being that void because I know that resident could be wishing and thinking they had someone come visit them everyday and I mad
