I have been a CNA now for 30 years, I love working with the elderly, I plan on someday going back to school to become a Nurse. For now I want to take a break from Long-term care and do something different for a change

I recently completed an End of Life Doula certificate and an Eldercare Doula certificate through Doulagivers which was founded by Suzanne O'Brien, RN. I am looking for positions where I can assist the senior population using a holistic model of building a trusting relationship based on one's individual values. An action plan would then be set up using all 4 bodies of energy-physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. I was employed with Synergy Home Care as a caregiver since November of 2016. In this role I assisted a wheelchair bound woman with a shower twice a week and completed some homemaking chores also. She passed away in June so now I am employed part time with Home Instead Senior Care and have also worked with Visiting Angels. I have been volunteering with Providence Hospice since July of 2016 and enjoy working with the patients and their families and have had some very wonderful assignments. Volunteering entailed a 3 day training last year and I have taken a couple inservice trainings since then. My last full time job was at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, CA where I was a Patient Service Assistant from 2001 - 2012. I enrolled veterans into the health care system and worked with the advice nurse taking the initial phone call. I also worked in patient travel where I had to order ambulances, medical air flights and assist with determining eligibility for special mode transportation. As far as what personal achievement I am proud of it would be finding a purpose again in my life assisting clients, patients, and families at very difficult times in their lives and through major health challengers. I love being of service and would most appreciate helping out more clients and families and integrating the training I have received.
