Growing up, I've always wanted to go into the medical field because it felt like a way that I could serve others in a time when people may be very vulnerable. My mother went through brain cancer and being able to experience that journey with so many medical professionals has definitely inspired me to want to walk with others in what may be the most difficult times of their lives. I've volunteered with a hospice organization for a couple of years and have really loved being able to provide a different kind of company to the patients. Being able to know them in whatever state they're in in that moment is really special to me. As a volunteer, there were definitely limits to what I could do for the patient and it inspired me to go further to be able to help more. I recently became a certified nursing aide and hope to be able to use that in order to serve the patients more. It's truly a gift to be able to walk with patients and families through hard health times and I'm excited to hopefully get more chances to do that!
