I was attracted to being a caregiver because I wanted to be able to help people be able to do things they are unable to do without help . I just wanted to help them have the normal life they would have if they were able to do so .

I knew I wanted to take care of people when my grandpa was sick when I was in 6th and 7th grade. Visiting him in the nursing home and hospital pushing him around and making him smile was the best feeling ever. I decided to go to Lawrence County Vo-tech for my 11th and 12th grade year to become a CNA and started working my senior year in November 2008. In 2012 I left that job to go to the facility my grandma resided in until she was well enough to go home which was about 2.5 years, and continued to work until I moved in 2016 I currently am working for St. Barnabas now as a hospice aide part time. I recieved an award for employee of the month in August from them. Overall, I enjoy helping care for people, and make them feel good about themselves. A smile of appreciation in return is so rewarding.

I became a caregiver to my mother in 2020 following surgery which left her needing assistance with bathing, cooking, cleaning, getting to her doctor visits, etc. Having lost my full time corporate job last year, I found a passion in helping others in need like my mom. Hello my name is anatasha but I go by Tasha. I just want to let you know a little bit about me. I am very loving, caring, compassionate, hard working, and reasonable. Ever since I can remember I have always loved helping other people out. I have always made sure that everyone else is taken care of before I take care of myself. Growing up my brother had autism along with a couple of my cousins. I loved helping them and saw no difference between them and myself. Once I got to high-school I knew I wanted to help with the program we had that was for students that had a disability or had trouble learning the material being taught. I always wanted to make sure life was easier for them and help them accomplish the thing that they wanted to. It is just the best feeling and such a reward being able to help someone who needs it. Being a caregiver isn't just about working and getting paid, it is about building a relationship with a client and making them feel good about themselves and letting them accomplish what they need to or what they have always wanted to. It's about making things easier for them and making sure they get everything out of life that they wanted.
