I've had a huge passion for the Golden Group of fine folks, giving back~ showing them the respect, integrity, kindness, feelings of being valued & love they deserve. I feel they are a highly important part of life & have enjoyed being companions & caregiver to a variety of folks from ages mid 50's- to 99. Care included besides being their companions; their nutritional, emotional, mental, medical, physical, health, hygiene, including but not limited to: meal prep & feeding, showers, shampoos, assisting w/toiletries if needed, dressing, giving meds, taking them to church, shopping, Drs., beauty shops, housekeeping, laundry, chores, making their beds, feeding their pets, lite repairs if needed, basically I try to provide whatever they desire, (I don't have a "not- my- job" kind of attitude, if it needs to be done & I'm capable, I will do my best & if not, I will find someone who could) We've enjoyed activities from Bird watching, making hummingbird feeders, taking walks, sitting in a pool, building puzzles, gardening, reading to them, watching Classic movies, assisting in their bills or other mailings & correspondences as needed... we have schedules but also I am quite flexible if other things are needed .. some have been bed fast, some are more ambulatory, some in walkers, wheelchairs, etc. some cancer stricken or stroke patients, some just need assistance getting around & want to stay in their homes, I've felt like family with so many of them~ being invited to gatherings, or staying overnights & week-ends if needed. I don't have a strict agenda & will do what I can of what is needed, desired & ........

Hi there, I'm Melissa. I'm a 34 year old mother and foster mother/adoptive mother. I've been caring for children for years and almost two years ago my father had a stroke. He moved in with us and I became his full time caregiver. I discovered a passion for helping adults (I already had one for children) live the best quality of life possible. I've got experience with many different diagnoses and medical equipment and am equally capable at reading the morning paper to someone, helping a client bathe, or running errands. I want to see disabled/elderly adults be treated with compassion and understanding so that they have the dignity of life that we all deserve.

I strive to make the elderly feel respected and needed through their decline. I treat others as if it were my own grandmother/grandfather. I feel we as people should give care and respect as we would like to have bestowed upon us in our golden years.

What I enjoyed the most about this job is the fact that it's not just a job for me, It's a life style for me, everything I love i get to do and experience when I'm at work.
