I joined the Navy to obtain a college education. I was trained as a Corpsmen (medic) during my Navy experience. After I was discharged with Honorable discharge I went to work/school@ Victory Memorial Hospital. Hired and sent to school as Respiratory Therapy Tech. I stayed at that hospital for a year after graduation. Moved to S.Carolina and began working at Trident Hospital as night shift therapy tech. I wanted to specialize in Pediatrics so began working at MUSC I was 1/2 of the night shift working in 9 intensive care units. Changes were made within the department requiring me to obtain more education I found and attended a non traditional education program in Pheonix , Ar. I attended school for 6months obtaining an Associates Degree and the qualifications to sit for National Board Registry Exam. After passing the exam I was promoted to the First Respiratory Therapy Pediatric Supervisor for the State of S.C. The new pediatric Hospital opened and I wrote the initial Policy and Proceedure manual for the Childrens Hospital. I loved every minute of patient care because there was always something new to learn. The involvement into a patient's care and watching the progression of becoming healthy has always been fascinating to me.
