I'm an experienced and passionate CNA over 10 years. I love my job however I'm allergic to cats and dogs.

***I worked for 5 years as a Police Officer for the Ogden City, Utah P.D. I graduated from the Utah Police Academy. The Police Academy provided weeks of intensive First Aid & Trauma Response Training. I served 3 years in Patrol as a First Responder for all types of Medical Emergencies, Serious Automobile Accidents, Overdoses & All Criminal Activity. ***I received several commendations while in Patrol and was promoted to Detective after the first 3 years. I was assigned to the Crimes Against Children Division where I conducted dozens of complex investigations involving Child Abuse, Neglect and Crimes of Child Sexual Abuse. ***I also attended & graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor's Degree Political Science and Social Sciences. ***I was the founding partner of Thurgood Development Company. We Developed & Built 8 major Senior Residential Projects in N. Utah from 1986-2017. I understand & appreciate the needs of seniors especially as it comes to living independently & as safely as possible. I know from direct experience that Seniors & the Disabled very much want to maintain their independence. ***I volunteered and trained 2 days per week for 7 years at Manor Care Nursing Home in S. Ogden, Utah. ***I retired from construction in 2017 but soon found myself wanting the work with Seniors again. I went to work for a Leading In-Home Senior Care firm in SLC. I underwent significant additional training and have several Utah State mandated Certifications in First Aid, Elder Care etc. ***After 4 months with the Leading In-Home Senior Care firm I was chosen as their CARE-GIVER OF THE YEAR. I am assigned as Exclusive Care Giver for 3 of their VIP's, whose names are household words in all of Utah. ***I have many references from persons who I have cared for and dozens from Seniors that I have built homes for over the past many years. I am 6'3"- 220 lbs and well trained in personal protection. My clients are safe when I am there with them.

My name is Angelia, I became a caregiver cause i like to help people. I became a caregiver cause i wanted to work in nursing ever since i was a little, watching my mom work as a nurse and seeing what she has done to help people and i became interested when i would go with her to work and help with the little things. I enjoy being a caregiver because it, is rewarding. I meet different people from all back grounds and i l have learned a lot from every person i that i have had the pleasure to work with, I treat every person like they were my own family members. I also work for a hospice company, caring for client's that are not going to be here long. I take pride in everything i do and understand that it is hard for the client as well as family. I have more than 15 years of experience working in the healthcare industries especially experiences in caring for seniors. I graduated with a Master in Public Health emphasizing in Healthcare Administration. I have worked at hospitals, nursing homes, homes health as a caregiver. As a caregiver, I have gained experiences in providing a safe environment and direct patient care for my patients. I coordinate therapeutic, health related programs and activities for my patients, guide and support each individual/patient with daily activities including meal planning, shopping, social activities, personal finance and much more. My professional experiences with different employers has provided me strong expertise in personal care assistance such as bathing, toileting, dressing and grooming, medication management, companionship and discussion, housekeeping, running household tasks, engaging clients in activities such as games, book reading, and light exercise. I have broadened my knowledge working with different types of patients. I have worked with autistic patients, dementia, Alzheimer's and much more. I am passionate about care giving because in our culture it is our responsibility to respect and care for our elderly.

What makes me become a great caregiver is my grandparents. I was mostly raised by my grandparents and when I was 16 years of age my grandpa was diagnosed and I was the one that helps him most of the time. After my grandpa passed away my grandma was next and I had to take care of her, when grandma passed away that's when I realized I don't have a grandparents anymore and so I decided to look for a caregiver jobs so I can continue on the legacy that my grandparents left behind. Working as a caregiver makes me treat every residents that I get to work with just like how I treat my grandparents. I'm the type of person that I like to smile every time no matter the situations is, so by smiling it helps me with my job as a caregiver, and it helps the patients too feel comfortable with me helping them. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver, is being able to talk with them about life and how they share with me their stories, because I took their stories and apply it to mine and i work towards it. One of my personal achievements that I'm proud of is, seeing my patients happy, is one of my biggest achievements.

I have been working as a caregiver for over 5 years now... Getting my CNA in 2004, I find that being a caregiver is most rewarding. I've been fortunate to have been able to work with many individuals, needs vary from each person and so my knowledge is vast due to experiences in caring for each of these individuals.

I am a mother of two beautiful girls. One who is going to the U of U for a bachelor's in psychology, and another who is a full time mom. I have a beautiful granddaughter that is almost two. I am a family oriented person who loves to do outdoor activities of any kind. I have a passion for caregiving and always have. My mother taught me at a young age about caregiving and would tell me stories that attracted me to it.

I believe I am a great caregiver because I make it a requirement to pick up routines quickly. I am a big people pleaser so I do my best to make it happen. I am a very patient, loving and supportive person. I love being a caregiver because interacting with people is my specialty.
