What makes me an amazing caregiver is my ability to show empathy, compassion, love, and willingness to do whatever it takes to make sure my client is taken care of like they are my own family! I have seen the consequences of people not taking pride in this line of work and it really makes me work harder to give my residence the care that I one day hope to receive. I will always go the extra mile even on a hard day. I think what attracted me most to being in this line of work is my ability to make a difference in the lives that I touch each day! My favorite part of this job is coming in and getting to know my clients. Their likes, dislikes, favorite food, activities, their families, I love learning about what makes them who they are! With that being said, it is not only a great way to exercise companionship, but also allows me to have a better understanding of their behaviors and how to help them cope if one has been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's! At the end of the day, as much as we may want to, we cannot always be with our loved ones which is why it is so important to find care that treats them as their own! If I am able to make someone's time with me a little brighter with a smile, or their favorite meal, or even with a fun activity than I can rest a little easier at night knowing I am making a special impact on the ones we love and adore most!!
