Expert caregiver with over 10 years experience providing caring supervision and assistance with ADLS/IADLS to clients/residents of varying ages in facilities and within the home. While I enjoyed my time in the facilities and became very close to some of my residents, I prefer the home setting where my clients have been most comfortable because they were in familiar surroundings. I have created long lasting meaningful relationships with not only the ones I cared for, but the families as well because I believe in treating other's family members the way I would expect my own to be treated. And because I have been on both sides of the fence, I can see it from both sides meaning, I have the experience from a personal and professional standpoint. I became interested in being a caregiver while helping out my stepdad's mom and then later helping my mom who was a RN at the time take care of my stepdad before he passed. Later I moved and needed a job but didn't have the time to invest in a long term class so decided to go with the quickest thing at the time and became a CNA. That was 14 years ago and I've been doing it every since. Throughout these years I've met and worked with a lot of interesting people, most who have since passed, but I remained with until the families decided they no longer wanted to keep them in the home for one reason or another and then I was on to my next one never forgetting the one that came before them. I enjoy my job because of the people that I have been lucky enough to come in contact with. I hear stories from other people about their clients and I say to myself, I haven't had those issues. I have never had a client that I did not get along with or just could not tolerate. My clients made it easy to enjoy going to work everyday and not look at it as just a job because I never made them feel like they didn't have a choice or a say in what was going on. I always made sure they knew they still had options everyday.
