I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

I am 54 years old and will be married for 18 years on May 26th. I am mother of 2 boys and 1 girl. I have two grandchildren; one boy whose 4 years old and a granddaughter who is 3 years old. I've work most of my life in the office environment since graduating high school. I recently transitioned to caregiving for seniors a couple of years ago and I love it. I love working with seniors because they have so much insight on this journey called life. I've learned so much about patience and kindness from them. I've also learned how important it is to listen. Greetings! My name is Dana, and I reside in Louisa County, near Lake Anna. All of my previous positions have been either in customer service or helping others. In regards to caregiving, I have experience working with folks in a home setting where I have done things such as; help with toiletry, grooming, meal preparation, helping with mobility (getting in and out of bed), companionship ( I play a mean hand of Rummy), and some exercise (taking walks). I have previous work experience as a CPHT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) and I'm trained in medication management, I would have no problem with medication management. I also have work experience with neurological disorders, developmental disorders, mental illness, and ADLs- from early childhood and up.
