I am a retired RN of 30 plus years. I enjoy caring for people which lead me to my career choice. I have worked mostly in the hospital setting. But have done home health care also. A caregiver is a calling. You must enjoy and take pleasure giving. There is alot giving of yourself to be effective is a person who needs physical and mental care. My biggest personal achievement was taking care of my mother at my home before her passing away. Giving her compassionate care during her last days on earth knowing someone loved her and cared for her. My mother's younger sister was a nurse which guided me to being a caregiver. My parents were caregivers to many people they knew who needed help in time of need. I followed their footst.
