Welcome to my "about me" section. First off , I love animals (not reptiles), I love doing all kinds of crafts, reading, learning new things, history & getting to know people one on one! I am a Christian who attends a local church & love to learn & do bible studies. (I'm not preachy but will converse or answer questions if you have them). I have a very bad SMOKE ALLERGY and can NOT work for anyone who smokes in the house. I have a mentally challenged son who has high functionality, lives, works & has a family and I also have a nephew who is Downs Syndrome, low functioning, & is non-verbal who I care for during my home time.( I will work his schedule around yours.) I love being able to create my own schedule with the work that I do. I have worked with all types of people in between since moving to Oregon 13.5 years ago. When I moved to Oregon I had a job waiting for me in this field because of my niece, who had introduced me to her employer during a vacation to visit her in the Spring of 2008. I never expected to love a job so much nor have I ever held a job this long. It was definitely a God thing. I have taken several trainings through my work for EOSSB (Eastern Oregon Support Services Brokerage) in different areas of care, helping me stay current on types of health problems people have & changing needs. I have earned several completion certificates for these including but not limited too bathing & grooming, toileting, managed care of diabetes (and other problems), medication monitoring/tracking, dementia (personal experience-family), cooking (meal planning), some cleaning etc. I look forward to taking more classes through Carelinx! and working for client/employers through this company.

I have worked with several client employers over the 13.5 yrs doing this job. I have life experience with high & low functioning people due to having a son & nephew that are mentally challenged. Some of what I do is Hands on personal care (bathing, grooming, teeth brushing, eyes drops, lotion, washing hands, wiping him after BM), preparing meals, cutting food small to help prevent choking, setting with him so he does not choke, coaching him as he eats (chew more, take a drink etc) helping dress, putting to bed, etc.

Ran house Friday-Monday, with help of other co-workers. Helped to plan meals, take care of clients petty cash, managed medication books, ordered when needed, planned indoor and outdoor activities, made sure each client (up to 5/6 per house) was cared for, bathed and groomed, ready for work on time schedules for Friday and Monday morning, observed clients doing individual tasks and duties inside the house and outside (clean rooms make lunches, help with outside yard chores), ran fire drills. Made sure that all clients stayed safe in and out of house. Made doctor appointments as needed. Helped to care for wounds.
