After receiving my Associates degree in Medical Assisting some years back I found myself caring for my dying father. It was a trying time for my family and I. Throughout this long ordeal we had help from some amazing caregivers. Their knowledge and skill made the little time he had left comfortable. Some time has passed since then and I have enjoyed the challenges of working in Home health care. First working for Lutheran Community Services and then one of Seattle's leading home healthcare co. The experience knowledge and skills I gained were only second to the incredible people I was fortunate enough to be able to care for. My approach to caregiving has always been to enhance my clients life. Always being respectful, compassionate, and caring knowing it is not easy for most to need our services. Versatile with approach to activities, socializing. Encouraging activities and a less sedentary life. I try hard to intuitively know when to inject myself into the clients world and when to step back and give space. Building a trusting relationship is key to my efforts as a caregiver demonstrated with reliability, honesty, and advocating for their needs. Strong skill base with Alzheimer's and dementia clients. Specialize in diet specific cooking, and have cooked professionally in the past. I adored my grandparents, and had the pleasure of caring for all of my older siblings children before having 2 of my own. When I lost my grandparents, I decided that I wanted to spend my time around seniors, helping them to remain in their homes as long as possible.
