I became a certified nursing assistant because my grandma has dementia and I wanted to learn more about the illness and understand what she was going through . I also became a caregiver because I have a lot of patience and I love working with elderly! What I love about being a caregiver is you have time to really get to know your resident on a deeper level. I have worked in nursing homes before and you don't have time to connect with your residents, talk to them about their past, or even spend and extra 30 minutes doing their hair. It seems like everything is so rushed in a nursing home. Where as being a caregiver and caring for elderly in their home you have time to take them shopping, do their hair, play games, and talk about their past and really connect with them. A personal achievement I am proud of is moving out and living independently. My name is Ashlynn Reddemann I am 21 years old and have been a CNA for 4 years now. I like hanging out with friends and family, taking my dog for walks no matter what season it is! I like horseback riding, swimming, reading, and of course shopping!
