Thinking of Mother

STORY: Geri’s family gathers together at Mom’s house on holidays and special days like birthdays and Mother’s Day. It is their tradition and they all look forward to seeing how their families have grown, what adventures they have experienced, what the younger members are learning in school and so on. Lately, Geri and her sister noticed that their mother, “Grandmom”, has slowed down and has had a few incidents in the kitchen. Just last week, Mom mentioned how sore her knees were from cleaning up a pot of soup that spilled when she poured it into another container to put in the refrigerator. The two sisters had already noticed that the kitchen was no longer as spotless as it used to be. “Mom’s eyes just aren’t as sharp as they used to be and her hands are not as strong.” We love our mother dearly, but she is increasingly frail. After all, she will soon celebrate her 80th birthday! Mother’s Day is approaching.
