An Empathetic Caregiver Needed For Mother
Part-Time Caregivers (2 Positions) — CNA Preferred — Evenings; Weekends, Stroke Patient Care
Location: Springfield, VA (first 2 weeks), then permanently in Fairfax, VA
Compensation: $15 - $22/ hour
We are hiring two part-time caregivers — ideally CNAs — to provide in-home care for our mother, a stroke survivor who is bedridden and non-verbal. She requires full assistance with daily living and specialized care. Our greatest need is evening and weekend coverage, and shifts will be divided between the two hires. You would be joining a loving, involved family and working as part of a care team.
Shifts Available:
Weekdays: noon - 6pm or 8pm
Weekend day 10am-6pm and/or evening shifts 2pm-10pm
Flexibility to occasionally pick up additional shifts is a plus
Responsibilities:
Complete personal care: bed baths, diaper changes, oral hygiene, hair and nail care
Medication administration and feeding via gastric tube (G-tube)
Oral suctioning as needed
Monitoring vital signs (blood pressure, oxygen levels, temperature) and keeping care logs
Repositioning every 2 hours to prevent pressure sores
Safe transfers between bed and wheelchair
Basic range-of-motion exercises
Emotional support and companionship (reading, music, sensory engagement)
Requirements:
CNA certification preferred; experience with bedridden and/or non-verbal patients required
Experience with G-tube feeding and suctioning strongly preferred
Reliable transportation (position starts in Springfield, moves to Fairfax after ~2 weeks)
Patience, warmth, and a genuine heart for caregiving
References required
