l 've been a caregiver since (1983) when I was trained and certifiied as s a direct care staff for the profoundly mentally handicap for 5 years, than transitioned over to caring for the elderly, recently I just loss a client of over 6yrs. who was 98 years old. I also cared for her daughter who preceeded her in death due to lung cancer. My personality traits as a caregiver I'm outgoing, understanding, organized, have a kind heart and honest. What attracted me of becoming a caregiver over 17 years ago was I saw my grandmother served her community. A caregiver to those in our neighborhood and other people that needed her support. I enjoy hearing the stories of the elderly of the things they did previously in their life. One of my greatest achievement that I am very proud of being a caregiver is previous had a patient that was a hospice was told that she only had several weeks and I came in and supported her and showed her kindness and she survived over a year with peace, comfort and great care.

Each location requires and demand a different approach but what never will not be compromised is that my case has priority, my companionship and the well being is always at the forefront. I have the ability to communicate with all levels of the medical community from patient transportation to the attending physician and nursing staff. I am CPR/First Aid Certified also with the latest automated on sight equipment. I feel that the person that I am caring for must and should remain a viable member of their community and should have as much professional and social interaction in that community that is reasonable contingent on their health and mental condition.

I have been a caregiver for 25 years I started out at 17 taking care of my Grandmother and from there I took off by word of mouth taking care of people in the neighbor hood loved ones. Then I decided to further my career and worked in a facility and from there I started doing in home private duty care I love what I do the best feeling is being there for someone who really need you and knowing you are the one who help keeps a smile on their face.

I am a married 59 year old woman with three grown daughter's and 6 grandchildren of my own with a blended family with three grown children and 4 grandchildren. I have had several clients that I have been assisting for over 20 years. I also took care of my mother and father towards the end of their lives. I am a very compassionate caring individual. I enjoy being able to assist people in need. I have a huge heart and a lot of love to share. There are not enough caring compassionate loving people out there to be with our senior adults. I have taken 16 courses and recieved certificates for all to better myself for the best Adult care services possible. I have also taken care of Hospice clients. Housekeeping and food prep are also my specially. I am willing to run errons and doctor appointments.

Taking care of my grandparents inspired me to be a caregiver. Developing connections with my patients is the best part about my job! When you properly care for them, they show you the most affection/appreciation and it literally warms my heart making them happy!
