Hi, my name is Carrie and I have been a caregiver for 25 years. I worked as an LPN for nearly 20 years. Although, I no longer practice licensed nursing, I have maintained the skills and will always have the expertise I gained during that time. Most of those years were spent with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Hospice, and Behavioral patients; along with Diabetes, Wound Care, Trachs, Vents, and patients with feeding tubes or any type of drain. I look forward to helping your loved one maintain their best abilities safely within their home.

I have been in the healthcare field for over 20years I have a diverse background from pediatrics geriatrics mental health developmental disabilities to working in family medicine and cardiology as a medical assistant/certified nursing assistant I'm currently working as a Therapy And Wellness Assistant where I run a nursing restorative program.

Two personality traits that have helped me within care giving is that I am very patient and my demeanor is very calm. The great stories and advice from previous residents are what have attracted me into the caregiving side. I love spending quality time and being there to be a support system for the residents. One personal achievement I am proud of is that one of my pieces of poetry that I wrote back in September was selected to be published in a poetry book.

I became a caregiver caring for my sister with autism and then my grandfather who had a tracheotomy and needed a caregiver and I cared for him. I realized as a teen that I had a gift for helping people and wanted to do it as a career.

A few things about me and my role as a caregiver are that I'm friendly, kind, compassionate, understanding, and hard working. For 10 years, I have worked as a caregiver under two professional services, ROI in Michigan and Help-at- Home in Northwest Indiana. The services that I've performed include transportation, personal assistance, physician advocate, medication disbursement, life-skills assistance to people, of all ages, with a variety of physical and mental abilities. Credentials include behavioral, CPR, and First Aid training. I am passionate about caring for those in need giving a helping hand. Knowing I could make a difference in their life and seeing a smile on their face brings joy and purpose to my life! What inspired me to get into caregiving was my Grandma. In the beginning, she just needed help with little things. Then, as time passed she needed all around care. It felt good to help her. I saw a need that I knew I could fulfill, not only for her, but others too. A personal achievement that I am most proud of was becoming an APC (Assistant Program Coordinator). I had applied 2 other times and didnt get the job. I had to build more skills and fight harder for it and the people I loved to help. I am thankful for the experience it has helped me to be a better caregiver.
