I have been a teacher for 18 years. I am 41 years old but very outgoing and in great shape. I love being around people. I also participated in the Adopt a Grandparent Program at the Virginia Retirement Community through my church. I love working with and helping people of all ages, especially the elderly. I was hired as a care giver for an elderly man diagnosed with Dementia. I worked night shifts. I was responsible for providing his evening meals, evening activities, night time medications, and putting him to bed. The man also had a second home in Nags Head and I would take him to visit his second home on several weekend visits. During his weekends at Nags Head, I was responsible for his care 24 hours a day from Thursdays through the following Monday. His family decided to move him back to Nags Head so my services were no longer needed. I feel very comfortable taking care of all elderly, and in all situations. I am available for work Monday-Friday from 4pm-7am the following morning. I am also available anytime on Saturdays and Sundays.

I've been a caregiver for over 5 years. My mother is severely physically disabled and needed someone to properly take care of her, that'll show up every day, who can be trusted and has the willingness and knowledge to perform tasks and duties. I like being able to make someone smile, to help them regain happiness and cope with their regression into older age. I know it's hard to accept limitations and I'm good at helping people to overcome issues that affect their capabilities. It's a great feeling knowing I helped them be more self sufficient or to know that I helped them be more comfortable if self sufficiency is not an option. I've helped my mother become less stressed and depressed. I've help her become comfortable because I know her needs and wants and cater to them as needed, sometimes before she even needs it.
